Welcome to AJ Psychology
Our Services
Welcome to AJ Psychology. It’s good to have you here. I strive to support you on your journey to mental and emotional well-being. I understand that life’s challenges can get really hard and can affect individuals and couples alike. That’s why there are a range of services on offer, including individual therapy, couples therapy, and online therapy, that take into consideration your unique service needs. I have also tailored my services so that I may assist you with your growth both in-person, from my offices in Umhlanga, and in the comfort of your own space, through my online therapy option. As a reminder, I only work with adults and adult couples who reside in South Africa as such my services do not include child/adolescent therapy, addiction, neuropsychology, psychometric testing and any psycholegal work and/or forensic/court reports.
I know that deciding to reach out isn’t easy, however, it is an important step toward making a difference in your life and in your relationship.
AJ Psychology Therapy Sessions
Individual Therapy
Individual therapy is a one-on-one process. It strives to empower clients through insight, awareness, and supportive resources and coping strategies. Individual therapy is an invitation for clients to get closer to who they are, how they want to be, and explore potential barriers to this.

I offer individual therapy to adults who may be struggling with:
- unhealed trauma,
- anxiety,
- depression,
- grief,
- adjustment to life changes,
- self-esteem and/or
- their relationships with others.
I also work with people who are looking for emotional support and/or who are interested in enhancing their personal development.
Couples Therapy
Couples work provides an opportunity for individuals within a romantic relationship to gain insight into their relationship. It provides an invitation for couples to gain a deeper connection to and understanding of one another’s needs, frustrations, and concerns as the couples learn and practice new ways of interacting with each other.

Ideally, you should come for couples counselling if:
- there is a breakdown in communication (persistent arguing),
- increased dissatisfaction within the relationship,
- various attempts at connecting with one another or resolving conflict have been unsuccessful and/or have led to more conflict, tension, or avoidance and/or
- you are experiencing a current problem or are feeling stuck in experiences of the past.
Couples who are interested in growing their connection and communication are also welcome.
Online Therapy
Online therapy is conducted via the internet rather than in-person. Online sessions are provided through video chat on Zoom. These services are conducted with clients based within KZN or South Africa, who might not be able to see me in-person or for whom online counselling is more convenient. Individual therapy and couples therapy can be conducted online.

Online therapy use has grown significantly because of its accessibility and convenience. It:
- expands your options for finding a therapist who is the right fit for our specific needs but who might not be available locally.
- is conveniently flexible which can be beneficial for people who do not have the time to travel to and from the therapist’s office, but who still want to prioritise their mental and emotional well-being. Assists those who have issues with transport.
- enables continuity of care for people who are physically immobile, have chronic illness, or present with other conditions that are a barrier to attending sessions in-person.
