How can I help you?

Individual therapy is a one-on-one process that is tailored to your specific needs, goals, and challenges. I offer individual therapy to adults who may be struggling with:

  • unhealed trauma,
  • anxiety,
  • depression,
  • grief,
  • adjustment to life changes,
  • self-esteem and/or
  • their relationships with others.

I also work with people who are looking for emotional support and/or who are interested in enhancing their personal development.

What happens during therapy?

During individual therapy, time and care is taken to explore the inner world of the client so that they may gain new insights into themselves (via their body, behaviour, beliefs, feelings, needs), their relationships, and their current difficulties. Uncovering and expanding stories that are life-affirming is also a part of the process that allows the client to witness and feel their own internal resilience, strengths and resources.

Care is taken to go at a pace that allows for the client to grow tolerance for the uncomfortable energy that comes with unpleasant memories or experiences so that they can sit with them without being overwhelmed by, and fearful of, them.

What can you expect at the first session?

Before you arrive, you will be asked to complete a consent form. If we are meeting in person, I will meet you at reception where I will greet you and introduce myself.

When we are in session, we will begin to discuss what brings you to see me for therapy. I will ask more questions to help get a clearer understanding of your presenting concerns, how long this has been bothering you, and if there are moments where this concern or problem is lessened. We also discuss your goals, hopes, and expectations of therapy.

The initial session is also an opportunity for you to ask me questions about my approach or the process and see if you feel comfortable working with me.

We will also go through confidentiality and limits to confidentiality and the practice policies around cancellation and/or late arrival. If everything goes smoothly and you are happy to continue working with me and I believe that I can assist you, we will book a follow up session.
